Edge Mercantile ended their 50th anniversary sale Saturday by giving away six big prizes and as much free ice cream as the residents of Groveland could eat. $192.60 worth of ice cream was given away.
The big prize of the afternoon, a refrigerator, was won by Thomas Burns of Bay Lake, R. R. Brock of Groveland won second prize, a washing machine.
A set of silverware went to Mrs. George Carter of Groveland. Mrs. J. M. Powell, Groveland, won a pressure cooker, and Mrs. Nellie Whorley received a radio.
A rod and reel went to Mrs. Ella Lee Judy.
Preceding the drawing, an auc- tion was held. A one-horse wagon and an 1899 model washer were sold. The washer consisted of a scrub board and a vat for boiling clothes.
Fred Thomas of Mascotte bought the wagon and Joe Casteel purchased the old-fashioned washer.
The other two items auctioned were wrapped and purchased sight unseen. W. B. Branch of Center Hill bought the first one and discovered it contained an electric floor polisher. Mr. Farmer of Linden bought the last package which contained a radio.
