Images of America: GROVELAND
is a 128-page pictorial history of Groveland, Florida. The book contains about 240 photos mined from state, county and local archives in addition to many rare photos from private collections never shared with the public before. The book traces the city's history from its earliest permanent settlement shortly after the Civil War.
The book was written by Doris Bloodsworth, a Pulitzer-nominated writer and co-founder of the Groveland Historical Society and Museum. Bloodsworth moved with her family to Groveland in 1959 and graduated from Groveland High School in 1968.
Images of America: Groveland is published by Arcadia Publishing, the largest regional history book publisher in the United States. The book will be available the week of June 22.
The Groveland Historical Society and the Marion Baysinger Memorial Library have chosen the book for a reading program this summer. During the month of July, the community is encouraged to read the book and participate in weekly discussion groups.
